Droupadi Murmu, Present President of India
Droupadi Murmu, a tribal leader from Odisha who is 64 years old, won the election for President of India on Thursday by defeating Yashwant Sinha, the nominee of the opposition. Murmu was elected as India's first indigenous president.
Murmu's journey is an exciting tale of many firsts. He was born on June 20, 1958, to a Santhal family in Uperbeda village in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha. She was the first female college student in her community.
